Executive Toughness was written by Dr. Jason Selk. The
digital book delivers mental training which helps business leaders to improve
their performance on the job. The principles learnt and skills developed
through the training can also be applied to other areas of life.
Coaches exist for an important reason. They help talented
people attain the peak of performance. I personally think that each human being
is very good at doing at least one thing. Unfortunately, many people either
never discover what that is, or do not receive the mentorship they need to learn
how to use their gift properly.
Good leaders tend to have a set of skills that help them to
be that way. However without mental toughness, they sometimes do not lead
others to the heights that they could achieve. When obstacles arise with
finances, relationships or in other areas of life, toughness is what helps the
really exceptional people to push past those obstacles and reach their goals.
Problems will arise. Most executives can state that as fact.
The people who make it to the finish line are those who are prepared to fight
mentally to get there. Dr. Jason Selk has the qualifications needed to help in
this area. He spent many years as a top tier executive coach and is also
Director of mental training for the St. Louis Cardinals.
The guide is an excellent read and I think everyone will
benefit from it. In fact, perhaps the earlier you read it is the better. His
idea of “Relentless Solution Focus” shows how important it is to focus on
getting a solution. Some of the concepts may be a little harder for young teens
to work with but if they can, it will help them on the field, in the classroom
and in all aspects of their personal life since they will learn how to hold
themselves accountable.
